    Julia
why do you tell your graduates to lead beyond authority? and what exactly do you mean by this? How do you equate loyalty to common purpose as being before the loyalty say a soldier owes to the Queen?

So many people are asked to lead in situations where they aren’t the boss. Whether a policeman in a community situation or a marketing director across different departments. Leading Beyond Authority is a framework for leadership that helps people learn to lead in these situations. I’ve written something about it on my blog, you can find more on the CP website. Oliver

The loyalty people feel for Common Purpose, I hope, is no more or less than they feel for the (no doubt) many other organisations that have delivered educational programmes that they have attended.

On the subject of Leading Beyond Authority, see my response to J Baker on the “About” page.
